I've never had orange juice in a soup, but I've had shredded carrots with lemon, raisins, and vegan mayonnaise. It's pretty good!

YES! That salad is a classic around Easter where I grew up. I love it, it's almost like a dessert.

I love the Silver Palate Cookbook! I'll have to try this recipe out. Their wild mushroom soup is banger so I'm sure this one is too :)

Every recipe I've made is a banger. Did you know they have a party-themed cookbook called Good Times as well? I've made less from that, but it makes me want to have a dinner party. https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/the-silver-palate-good-times-cookbook_sheila-lukins_julee-rosso/267227/item/2001136/?gclid=Cj0KCQiA0eOPBhCGARIsAFIwTs6T0xzv33-Lf2cTcrPDoETCy44eG-iCBgAp2vHJThBw6UQD2h3Q9BYaAqgmEALw_wcB#isbn=089480832X&idiq=2001136

So delighted by the references to Maangchi and Woks of Life recipes. They are two of our favorite resources! You read us like a book, Mia ;)

Oh good! That was my first Maangchi recipe, but I'm a long time fan of Woks of Life. I used to work at a Chinese-American take-out place and they hooked me with their at home recipe for Singapore rice noodles.

In my life before Substack, we had Woks of Life on our podcast :) https://research.people-and.com/the-woks-of-life-8be5207c962d

What a magical newsletter this is! I just stumbled here because of Go, and I bless them for it. I don't think there is any newsletter which crisscrosses food with all things culture! You are an absolute genius. Thank you for this delight!
